Is your soul worth a cookie?

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

This week on Thursday we will be having our famous Atheist Bake Sale! We will be selling baked delicious treats but unlike a normal bake sale you actually have two options for payment. For those of you who are a little less willing to part with your ethereal counterparts you can pay the traditional way by giving us 50 cents for a baked good. However, if you are feeling more adventurous you can sign one of our soul contracts and transfer ownership to AAR. In return you will get 1 very tasty cookie.

Is it worth it? Come find us on ring road and find out.

ZOMGAARBBQ!!1!

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Hey everyone!

This Sunday (10/12) at Stanford park at 1:30pm we will be having our first BBQ of the year. This will be potluck style so feel free to bring a dish or some food to share with others. This is a great chance to get to know your fellow AAR members on a more social level so come on out.

Room change! Room change! Room change!

AAR has moved to a new room! We are now in Social Science Trailer 103 (right across from Social Science Lecture Hall (SSLH). We will be meeting at 5pm as usual. This week, we will be discussing the variety of terms used to describe the non-religious and the connotations associated with those terms.

Once again, ROOM CHANGE! We are now in SOCIAL SCIENCE TRAILER 103!

Hope to see you there!

AAR gets Religulous

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

(or at least goes to see it.)

It was suggested during the meeting this week that we should make a group trip to see Religulous.

We’ll be meeting at 4:30pm on Sunday (10/5) at the Edwards University Town Center 6 theatre (the one in the University Center -by Trader Joe’s) to watch the 4:50pm screening. Afterward, we’ll meet up again at the Steelhead Brewery to discuss the film with another group called Skeptics in the OC.

Hope to see you there!

Police Report: Atheist club steals chairs

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

…and then returns them.

Today’s meeting was amazing! Thanks to all who showed up to give us a 60+ person headcount! There were so many people we had to borrow chairs from another classroom! (we’ll be getting a bigger room soon)

first club meeting

Our discussion today was about what our members want to see fromĀ  AAR@UCI. Ideas included: community activism for the separation of church and state & community service to improve the image of secularists. Some ideas for events were going to see Religulous, planning social events amongst ourselves and with other clubs and debates.

Speaking of social events…

The weekend of the 11th there will be a potluck-style BBQ. Location and exact date and time TBA!
