Lobby Day 2009
January 11, 2009
SIGN UP!
Come join hundreds of allied healthcare students from across California in Sacramento January 11-12 for Lobby Day. Lobby day is your opportunity as students to lobby for healthcare reform. It is also a really fun networking event. As future healthcare professionals, we are the one’s that are going to be impacted by our broken system, we need to be involved in reform for our sake and for our patient’s sake. UCI is known for it's activism, even if healthcare reform isn't your #1 priority, come to lobby day to learn how to lobby for what you are most passionate about.
LOBBY DAY PARTICIPANTS:
This year Lobby Day will cover two days for education and activism. We will meet together for our state wide Lobby Day Training at the UC Davis Medical School in Sacramento on Sunday January 11, 2009. Our program will run from noon to 6pm. After the training, we will have dinner as a large group in one of Sacramento’s downtown restaurants then stay the night at the Embassy Suites. On Monday January 12, 2009 we will march to the Capitol to hold our noon time rally on the North Steps. From 1pm-4pm we will break into small groups to meet with and lobby our California state legislators asking them to act on the California Universal Health Care Act (SB 840).
Our program this year is focused on building strong groups who will confidently lobby their representatives on California’s Universal Health Care Act. If you would like to lobby on Monday January 12th you must complete the training day program on January 11th!
