We are Cal Animage Episilon, UC Irvine's Anime Club. We meet every Thursday at 6:30pm in BS3 1200. BS3 1200 can be seen in our campus map below, pointed out by Mami.
If you need more information about BS3 1200, you can click here.
In the past our club has screened various anime [which you can find more information on in our 'About' tab], as well as various activities such as:
This year, we are tentatively screening the following anime for our regular Thursday meetings:
If your interested in joining, please come to our first meeting. You can also join our Facebook group, or follow us on Twitter using the respective icons located on the right of the website. Please check back later this week for specifics on our first meeting, or stay updated by signing up to our e-mail list here.
Hey, CAE members, how’s your week so far?
We’re halfway through the quarter, hoorah! There’s just a few things we’d like to inform you about in relation to the coming weeks.
First of all, we hope you enjoyed the first round of our OP/ED contest last week! As a quick reminder, our winners were: Psycho Pass ED 1, The World God Only Knows OP, Free! ED, and Space Dandy OP. Come by this Thursday (BS3, 6:30pm as always) to see the next 8 OP/EDs the randomizer will pit against one another and vote for your favorites.
As those of you who are part of our Facebook group may have noticed, our Little Tokyo trip has now been moved to next Saturday, February 22, due to lack of available drivers this week. If you guys are interested, check out the event page and sign up for rides in the doc so that you, too, can join us for karaoke, eating, and general exploration of the area. If you can provide rides, even better!
Currently located in a tiny village somewhere in Japan, alum Katrina has chosen to grace us with her online presence and the return of her fabulous CAE Livestream event this Saturday!
The fun will start at 7pm with a couple hours of fun family friendly OVAs, clips, etc.
before transitioning into
less safe for work Not Safe For Work At All (but possibly more hilarious)
territory around 9:30pm. Tune it at this link!
Also, fandom clubs coalition E.N.I.G.M.A. is also hosting a post-Valentines event called SQUEEvent on February 24 at 7pm in Pacific Ballroom C. Join CAE, the Whovian club, Dumbledore’s Anteaters, and the R.P.G. club for an evening of candy and revelry. There will also be an OTP contest, so come with a friend or significant other dressed as your favorite fictional friendship/romantic ship! Canon or otherwise! Tickets are currently $2, so talk to PR Officer Zee or President Vincent if you want to attend! More info can be found here.
Finally, due to a significant number of officers leaving this year, we are planning to have cabinet election a bit earlier this year. More info will be coming soon, but if you are interested in getting more involved please come talk to us during club. Don’t be shy, we’d love to hear from you!
That’s all for now, but look forward to more events as they come~

We’re already going into Week 3; as usual the quarter seems to be moving really quickly! There are just a few announcements this week, but they’re important ones.
First the usual; we’ll be having our Thursday meeting in our new lecture hall, Biological Sciences III, at 6:30pm. Come for the next episode of each of our six shows, and maybe tag along to Norms afterward!
The official announcement will be made Thursday at club, but it’s almost time for our annual CAE Opening/Ending contest! We’ll be asking you, the members, to submit a couple of your all-time favorite OPs or EDs from anime old and new. We’ll explain how submissions will work on Thursday, but for now, start thinking about which OP/EDs you think are the best of the best! Eventually, the selected entries will be pitted against each other during club intermissions, and your votes will decide the winners until we have a grand finalist.
We have also decide to hold the officer elections for Cal Animage Epsilon a little early this year, towards the end of this quarter. Many of our current officers will be graduating after this year, and there are plenty of positions to be filled, from President to PR Officer. If you’re interested in any position as a club officer, please email us, or better yet, come talk to us at club!
Finally, just a heads-up that the club coalition ENIGMA, which is made up of CAE, the Whovians Club, the RPG club, and Dumbledore’s Anteaters, is planning on holding a Valentines themed event on Monday, Feb. 24th. More details will be announced as plans are finalized, but if you enjoyed the ENIGMA Halloween mixer, keep your calendars posted for this event!
That’s all for this week, but lots more is coming over the next couple weeks of winter quarter. We hope to see you at our meetings and events!
~Your CAE Officers
Welcome back CAE!
We hope you had an awesome and relaxing holiday season and New Year’s, and that your first week back has gone smoothly so far.
It’s time to begin the Winter Quarter of Cal Animage Epsilon! Our regular meetings will be starting up again this Thursday, 1/16 at 6:30pm. Please note that WE HAVE CHANGED ROOMS. Thursday meetings will now be held in Biological Sciences III 1200, the large lecture hall right next to the Science Library. We will picking up right where we left off with our six anime shows.
Also, for those of you who may have been in club when we screened the anime AnoHana, or watched it on your own, the new movie for the series is showing in L.A. at the Downtown Independent this weekend, Saturday 1/18 and Sunday 1/19. Our club president, Vincent, is planning on attending the Sunday evening showing at 7pm with a handful of other members. If you’d like to join the trip, please add yourself to the ride doc here. Tickets can be purchased for about $16 here. The Sunday showing includes a Q&A with the creators and some cool giveaways.
Because we’re just getting started this quarter, that’s all the news there is for now, but plenty more is in the works; for example, our annual Opening/Ending Contest is coming soon, as well as three brand new anime series for our lineup once our current shorter shows have ended.
We look forward to seeing you again this Thursday and kicking off a brand new quarter of club!

Happy New Year everyone! Hope everyone is ready for an awesome 2014! A quick announcement, because of room registration issues and Anime Los Angeles happening this week, we won't be having a meeting this week. Out regular meetings will resume next Thuesday where we left off with our shows in week 10 of Fall quarter in PSLH, instead of our previous room.
We'll post more information after this week. In the meantime, if anyone is going to Anime Los Angeles this weekend, please support our club's Maquerade group during the Masquerade ball!
