Kaba's Last Meeting of the Year

Kababayan Academics
Kaba Study Hours
Study Hours will be every Tuesday 6-9pm location TBA. Check your emails and facebook for the location. Week 3, the week of PCN, study hours will be held at the Bren Events Center due to rehearsals for PCN.
Kababayan Academic Mentorship Program (KAMP)
Mentors and mentees! There will be a KAMP meeting this Tuesday at 8pm during Study Hours. Please attend so we can plan events for the rest of the school year... retreats, dinners, etc! If you have not been assigned a mentor/mentee or would like a mentor or mentee, please attend the meeting and you will be assigned one at the meeting!
Pilipino Graduation (PGrad)
Pilipino Graduation applications are out! Pilipino Graduation recognizes graduating seniors (Pilipino and non-Pilipino) with a more intimate and personal ceremony. If you would like to participate please turn in the attached application by Thursday, April 23, 2009 (Wk 4) along with $45 for paid Kababyan members / $50 for non-Kababayan members (cash/check made payable to Kababayan). Each participant will get a brief period to speak, a Pilipino flag graduation stole, program featuring all graduates, and announcements to send to family and friends.
Kababayan Honor Society (KHS)
Also if you have a GPA of at least 3.0 and have at least 1000 KHS points, you are eligible to be recognized and receive a medal for the Kababayan Honor Society. You must fill out the attached application, and turn it in along with your most recent unofficial transcript by Friday, April 10 (Wk 2).

First Saturday Practice
Woo! Our 1st Saturday Practice out of 4 is this Saturday, February 21st!
Call time is at 8am (it's early, but it'll be a very productive day) between SSL and SST by the tents
Dress accordingly, it'll be cold in the morning and it'll warm up later in the day
Also, Saturday is the last day to turn in your signed contracts and deposit!

Kababayan's 35th Anniversary is coming up and Thursday, February 19th is the last day to pay for GALA before prices go up!!! We encourage you all to pay by that deadline so that you won't have to pay more and we can pay the deposit.

Week 5 Meeting
For this week's meeting, we will be taking a trip to UC Riverside!!! Hosted by Southeast Asian Text, Ritual, and Performance (SEATRIP), we will be attending "Tropical Renditions: Musics of Filipino America." Please come to this event with us as we learn more about the Filipino culture and watch exciting music performances. We will be meeting up at the Cross Cultural Center no later than 6:30. This event will start at 8 so please be prompt!
Rides are provided. All we ask is to bring yourself and your enthusiasm!
This week's meeting is BATTLE OF THE CLASSES! Come represent your class as we all take a trip to DOWNTOWN DISNEY to do a fun scavenger hunt!!! We will meet up at the Cross Cultural Center at 7pm on Thursday, Jan. 29. Please be on time because we don't want to leave anyone behind. Who will win? 1st? 2nd? 3rd? 4th? Make sure to come to the meeting and find out! The winning class will get a surPRIZE so get as many of your class out as possible!

Pilipino Studies Meeting
This Thursday we are having our meeting on the beginning stages for the campaign of P-Studies. It will be held in Rowland Hall 101 (not the cross this week!) and we will be discussing the three topics of Filipino American music, modern history, and food in relation to Filipino Americans. Come to this interactive meeting as we discuss these matters.

This info night is MANDATORY if you want to go to big bear but you only have to attend one of these 2 meetings. At this meeting we will be passing out waiver forms, going over rules, discussing what to bring, assigning car rides, collecting money, and answering any questions you may have. If there is no way possible you can attend either of these meetings please contact me and we will figure something out.
We currently have 50 people who reserved a spot which means we only have 10 spots left! So if you know anyone who still wants to go tell them to e-mail denisehills@gmail.com to reserve a spot before they are all booked.
