Welcome to MAES UC Irvine Chapter!
MAES: Latinos in Science and Engineering was founded in Los Angeles in 1974 by professional engineers looking to increase the representation of Latinxs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). They created opportunities and fostered recognition through professional, technical, and outreach activities.
The MAES chapter at UC Irvine was assembled by the Latinx Engineers and Scientists in order to create a sense of community, or “familia,” on their campus. The sense of a “familia” is one of the things that truly separate MAES from other academic clubs. MAES members are not just club members, they are our brothers and sisters within our institution. MAES is the home away from that offers networking opportunities, student-alumni relations, academic mentoring, and social events.
To encourage Latinxs in STEM and promote unity while developing them as better students, leaders, and professionals.
MAES is the premier resource at UC Irvine for Latinxs pursuing a career in STEM.
