Welcome to the UC Irvine March of Dimes website!
March of dimes is devoted to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
We are the March of Dimes Collegiate Council at University of California Irvine. Our goals as a club are to spread awareness of prematurity to college students, fundraise for research to help premature babies, and participate in community events.
UPDATES:
6/24 We have a bonfire this Friday! It starts at 6pm at Corona del Mar so meet us there or e-mail or call one of us to get a ride.
6/24 Also, new officers have been updated for the 2009-10 year!
5/29 The End of the Year Banquet is today! Meet at the flagpoles (possibly the parking lot next to it) at 6pm for rides. Hope to see you all there!
5/24 We're almost near the end of the year, that means we will have an End of the Year Banquet, which is this coming Friday, 6pm at Olive Garden. Come wish graduating seniors luck, see new officers initiated, and just have a good time with the March of Dimes! For rides, go to the meeting this Wednesday at 5pm in HH118 or e-mail marchofdimes@clubs.uci.edu or liujk@uci.edu.
5/18 The Souplantation fundraiser is this thursday! Please come help us by eating at Souplantation (must buy a drink). E-mail us if you have any questions.
5/18 Also, the end of the year is approaching and two big events are coming up: elections and end-of-the-year banquet! Contact Josh by May 22 if you would like to apply for a chair position. The banquet time (May 29th) is posted on the calendar.
4/23 Whether or not we have a meeting week 5 will be announced through e-mail (e-mail us for info or to add your name to the mailing list). This week, we are tabling on ring road tomorrow so drop by and say hi! Also, Saturday is March for Babies, the event we've all been waiting for, so come join us! All information is on the calendar and in the minuts (see "files").
4/20 Wayzgoose was really fun! Thanks to everyone who helped! The next event, and also the last biggest event of the year, is March for Babies, for which we will do some last minute planning at the upcoming meeting (arrange rides, what to wear, etc.). If you would like to walk with our team, please make sure that you sign up for the team on the March for Babies website.
4/12 Happy Easter! In the coming week, we will have another general meeting, table for Discover UCI, and host a booth a Wayzgoose where we sell almond jello! We are also in the process of preparing for March for Babies. Come to the meeting to see how you can help out, or you can e-mail anyone of us (or marchofdimes@uci.edu). 4/2 Hopefully everyone had a good spring break! We will be back next week with our first general meeting. The meeting time stays the same, but is now in HH 108. This information is also available if you look on the left.
4/2 Our upcoming events include tabling for March for Babies, March for Babies itself, a fundraiser, and elections. Come to the general meeting to find out more, and meet other people! All events will be posted on the calendar (click "Events").
3/8 Thanks for everyone's help last week! We pretty much sold out for bake sale. Right now we are deciding on a meeting time next quarter, and we will send out an e-mail at the right time.
3/8 There is NO meeting 10th week! Start studying for finals and join us next quarter to plan more events!
2/27 We are selling baked goods on Tuesday to fundraise (all proceeds go to March of Dimes). Come help out or stop by to say hi! If you would like to help baking, Amy (562-746-6998) and Vanessa (415-218-7275) (and others) are baking Monday at 4:30pm in VDC 63224. Contact them if you need help getting there. Information is in the minutes and on the calendar.

2/22 Hey guys! There is another general meeting this Wednesday in HH 118 at 5pm, so come help (continue) plan a bake sale that will happen Tuesday of week 9! It will be fun and some of you can even help bake stuff. If you still have midterms, best of luck with them!
2/12 Even though we did not win the pictionary tounament, it was really fun and good job to everyone who participated! We will have some fundraising events later so be sure to check the calendar to see what you might be able to attend! We would especially like you to attend the general meetings because we often make posters to advertise and you can help us promote :) The other reason is, of course, to make more friends!
2/5 We are in the middle of midterms. There was no general meeting yesterday but there was an executive meeting to plan out our next few weeks. Check the "files" section for minutes if you would like to know what will be coming up soon. No matter what you do though, don't miss out next week's meeting because we will need your help making posters again! Also, more information later about the pictionar;y tournament.
1/31 As midterms approach (and homework and labs pile up), apologies for the lack of updates. For this coming Wednesday the meeting is TBD since we have not decided on the next project yet.
1/31 This past Wednesday was our sale of potstickers in celebration of Chinese New Year and a lot of you brought decorations or help out. Thank you, because without your help we could not have done it! We will update funds again during one of our meetings.
1/31 Eric is now our new webmaster intern. Congratulations and I look forward to working with you!
1/22 Thanks to everyone that helped us or are still helping us make posters! Make sure than we post up the club-promoting posters on Monday so they are effective. Next week join us for another general meeting and Alice will do a short presentation on a newborn condition. Meet new people!
1/22 We are adding new member of the executive board. Vanessa Fong will be our secretary for the rest of the year and Ellen Ly is now helping us promote the club by becoming a Publicity Committee member.
1/21 We have a meeting today at 5pm which will be a poster making session to help promote our event that is coming up, selling potstickers the following week on ring road to fundraise. Please come and help, because we need it and it will be lots of fun!
1/21 Recently some rearrangements have been done on the March of Dimes Exec Board and we have a position open for secretary if anyone is interested. Also available are a webmaster intern position if you are interested in being the webmaster next year and the opportunity to help out on the publicity committee. If you are interested in any of these simply e-mail us at marchofdimes@spirit.dos.uci.edu with your name, year, the position, and if you like, why, and we will get back to you.

1/5 We gift wrapped during the holidays and we raised hundreds of dollars! Thanks so much to everyone that helped!
10/21 Pie baking will be this Saturday and Sunday from 11am-4pm. You can help out either day or both days. It's also a great way to bond! For more info see calendar and click the event.
10/19 We would like to thank Nurse Robin Koeppel for hosting the NICU tour last Friday and speaking about life in the NICU today. We learned a lot about the care that a premature or problematic baby needs in the hospital.

10/22 November is coming! Starting today, we begin to plan the busiest month of the year, and everyone is encouraged to join us! Attend meetings, come to events (they will be announced on the calendar and through e-mail), and help us table! More details coming soon.

10/18 Shocktoberfest has just ended! Thanks to everyone that helped at the booth! We had fun in a beautifully decorated booth and broke even, which is fair progress toward future success.
10/18 The next thing is to get ready for Prematurity Awareness Month, which is November. Please attend meetings to find out more about it, listen to presentations, and help us plan for the most important time period of the year.
10/04 Our first meeting went well! We wish for more participation, so for our second meeting, come to HH 112 for discussion about upcoming events such as one of the biggest events at UCI, Shocktoberfest, listen to a short presentation, and enjoy snacks! Come save babies and make friends!
10/04 The website is being updated regularly, but not as regularly as I like due to my busy schedule. To make some of our meeting resources available, I am setting up a "resources" subsection under "link" so if you want to look at presentation material, you are welcome to!
09/25 Upcoming events: Free hot air balloon ride social at the Orange County Great Park! Meet at 6:30pm at the flagpoles on saturday, but please RSVP to marchofdimes@spirit.dos.uci.edu so we can reserve space/arrange rides for you! E-mail us if you have questions.
09/25: Our first meeting will be October 1st in HH 112 at 6:00pm. There will be introduction to March of Dimes and free pizza!
